Hello! My name is Lina. I am a Hispanic mom from Texas to 3 young adults and a marriage veteran of 20 yrs. My family and I have lived in South Carolina for nearly 4 yrs. where I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate with a primary focus on sex and relationship therapy. I possess a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in Systemic Sex Therapy, and I am currently pursuing a doctorate in Clinical Sexology. Specialty What is sex therapy? It is purely talk therapy between me and each partner in the relationship. Sexual/relationship challenges impact and are impacted by the various challenges in your life. I have a deep understanding of how sexual challenges can affect all aspects of your life, including your self-worth and that of your partner’s as well. I use my ability to translate each partner's inner world, allowing them insight they can then share with their partner, which helps them develop healthier patterns of interaction and a stronger bond. Methods of Use I am a person-centered therapist, so I am trained in a variety of methods to accommodate each client individually. Such as, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy, where I utilize the power of emotion to transform the way individuals interact with one another in their relationships, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), which is a method capable of being adapted to help reduce symptoms of distressing thoughts, feelings, and/or behaviors that may be impacting your relationships, and the use of tarot cards in therapy for clients seeking a more spiritual approach to their relationship.
